Those of us in the northern hemisphere are coming into the rebirth part of the year. Where the light keeps the darkness at bay, when we can enjoy the warmth of the sun and the fresh scent of flowers blooming. Springtime is a reminder that life, as arduous, precious, and fragile as it is, grows back. The cycle of time stops for none of us. I often think about the level of life I am at during this time. What needs to be done to level up? Where do I need to do some “spring cleaning”? It is just as important to clean our minds as it is to clean the house.
Sígrblót (victory sacrifice) was a festival held in ancient Scandinavia around this time of year. It was a celebration of gratitude for overcoming the hardships of winter, and an offering was given to help be victorious in the upcoming summer of battles. We all have battles that we have to contend with throughout our lives.
Which is why it is a worthy tool to celebrate the victories that we achieve, no matter the size. A win is a win, even in the heat of battle when you are constantly having curve balls thrown at you. It is important to take time during this season to quiet your mind and to clean out the self-doubt and fear that pollinates our minds; if not, it will knock you off course and keep you distracted.
Remember. We have to keep our attention on continuing to plant our roots in hopes of growing into an oak of a person.
Happy Ostara!
Peyton.
