Walt Disney once said, “I love the nostalgic myself. I hope we never lose some of the things of the past.”
During this past month of February, I have had the opportunity to spend most of it in Florida. Working my way south to the beautiful waters of the Florida keys, during my travels I went to Epcot in Walt Disney World, a place where I had the privilege to spend summers when I was younger. I give credit to that magical place for having taught me so many lessons. The lessons of never letting go of your inner child, believing in the impossible, and the importance of leaving a legacy behind for generations.
It had been six years since I was last there, and they had done reconstruction and added new attractions, but they kept most of my childhood favorites. As good of a time that I had, it was a friendly reminder of as we go through life and revisit our childhood spots, the chances of it being the exact same are slim to none. Same with the keys; I grew up coming down here, and I see the changes presently. Which is why the top lesson of this trip is having the ability to be present at any particular time. It is a fundamental part of how we capture the moment and create a memory that we can reflect on for years to come.
Remember to be present, that way in the future, we can reflect on the past.
