The average human lifespan is about 72 years old and the amount of years that the earth has existed is estimated to be 4.543 billion years. Those two sets of numbers are drastically different, and what I gather from them is just how small of a part we have in the grand project of time. The concept of time is a precarious one because each of us has a different perspective on it. However, I think there are two different forms of time, the practical and the spiritual. The practical side of time is the watch on your wrist or the digital clock on your phone; it is the planning of events that will take place at a certain moment in time. It is what structures our lives and is at the forefront of our minds. Time dictates pretty much everything we as humans do, and with that comes the failure to observe the spiritual side of it, the side that is in need of more attention. It does not matter what faith you believe in; time works differently with your higher power. Time does not exist outside of this life.

The odds of you being born are 1 out of 400 trillion; think about that. The time that we are given is rare, and yet this often flies under the radar because, again, we have lost that sacred connection to everything around us. As a Norse polytheist, the subject of time has a start; however, it has no actual ending; it is a constant cycle that takes place. Our ancestors were living in a world where the true form of time was understood, and what I mean by that is this. They were a part of the natural order of things, and with each change of seasons, they were aware of the consequences of the real-time, the small time that they were alive. Time is the greatest gift anyone can receive, whether it is from a higher power or another human. We do not realize this and that is one of the numerous reasons we are seeing all kinds of problems today like record-breaking suicides, war that is not only killing people but also the nature around them, and, a decrease in meaningful things occurring. When someone takes their own time and uses it to say hey or to grab a drink with you, Although I am aware that is not an easy thing for everyone to do for their own reasons. But when they do, pay them back with the same thing, and please do not take it for granted, for which you may never know when the time runs out.

Time is all we really have in life and that is why it is important to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives to enjoy this precious gift of time and this chance at life. And remember, all you have to decide is what to do with the time that has been given to you.
